The catacomb of Peter and Marcellinus is a major attraction in Rome, located on the ancient Via Labicana, south-east of the city and 3 kilometres from the ancient town's walls. You can join a guide to explore a vast network of subterranean galleries, 4.5 kms long, spanning three levels across an area of three hectares. This complex catacomb is the final resting place of saints Peter and Marcellinus as well as up to 25,000 more people. It's just one of the 60 Christian cemeteries in Rome, yet it's home to roughly a third of all the paintings known to exist in the catacombs.
See where the martyrs of the persecution of Diocletian are buried in Rome
The catacombs and the images shown were interesting. Only negative is no photos allowed and the venue did not sell postcards so likely to forget everything soon after
Meine Freundin und ich waren die einzigen beiden Teilnehmer der Tour um 10 Uhr und es war einfach großartig! Dicke dicke Empfehlung zum Besuch!
